Patient survey
We have completed our Patient Satisfaction Survey and the results have been reviewed by our Patient Participation Group.
An action plan has been put into place
The full survey results and action plan will be published in early April.
**TELEPHONE TRIAGE**
As from Monday 16th april we will be bringing in telephone triage.
Receptionists will be unable to book into the afternoon emergency surgery. Instead, patient contact details will be taken, the duty Doctor will then telephone the patient and, if necessary,make an appropriate appointment.
This change has been made to try and avoid patients making unnecessary visits to the surgery.
**NEW PRACTICE MANAGER**
We are pleased to announce that Glenda Morey has been appointed as our new Practice manager. Glenda has been with the Practice for some time and will start her new duties on 1st April.
**NHS 111**
The new 3-digit 111 service has now gone live on the island. Patients should phone 111 if they require Out Of Hours treatment when the surgery is closed. For life threatening emergencies continue to dial 999.
**DR MAUREEN SIMMONS/DR SHANTI KAKURLA**
Dr Simmons has reduced her surgery commitment from 3/4 time to 1/2 time from the beginning of April. At the same time Dr Shanti has increased from 3/4 time to full-time. This has meant a reallocation of some of Dr Simmons patients to Dr Shanti, those involved have been sent a letter giving details of the change.
**ABOLITION OF PRACTICE BOUNDARIES**
We are receiving calls to ask when our list will be open to all patients following the abolition of Practice boundaries. As far as we are aware the National consultation process regarding this started in April 2011 and any changes are unlikely to be implemented before 2012.
**DR STEPHEN SELBY**
Dr Stephen Selby joined us as a full-time partner on 1st September. Stephen is a very experienced Newport GP and has taken Dr Knights patients following his retirement.
We are happy to register Stephens patients living in Newport who wish to stay with him following his move to this surgery. However our Practice boundary ends at the Racecourse Roundabout and we are unable to register any patients living East of the Roundabout, including Wootton/Wootton Bridge.
**NEWPORT UNDER 25 DROP-IN SERVICE**
This is our Young Persons Sexual Health Clinic that runs every Wednesday between 3.30pm & 6.30pm.The Nurse run Clinic offers advice on all aspects of Sexual Health for the Under 25s & is open to all Island Residents not just those registered with this Practice. It is totally confidential. No appointment necessary, just turn up on the day. If you would like further information please contact Glenda Morey on 523525.
